Eagle Bay District Internet Policy
The purpose of the Eagle Bay District Internet
Website
is to:

Promote the exchange of information among the Scouts and
Scouters of Eagle Bay District,
·
Market Scouting to the local community, including links to
units within the District,
·
Enhance the mission to the community by promoting the program,
aims and methods of the Boy Scouts of America, and
to
·
Ultimately encourage a conservation of our resources by
minimizing our use of paper publications & handouts.
While not every unit or member of the District has access to
the Internet and this site, one of our goals is to provide more
timely updates of information and as a supplement to meetings
such as Roundtables, forms and information that can be
downloaded or printed off for local use as desired or needed by
the units and members at their convenience.
Oversight
—The Eagle Bay District Website will be maintained by a single
Webmaster and is subject to review and approval by the District
Chairman, District Commissioner and District Scout
Executive. Inputs
can be provided by any member of the District, but may not be
used based on site availability or content. All correspondence regarding
the site such as suggestions or comments will be shared with
these same people with the intention of continually improving
the site and it’s goals. Units may have specific
information related to them and/or their activities posted on
this site with the intention of advertising their efforts or
programs as they reflect the best interests of the District and
the Scouting program as a whole.
Content
—All documents, illustrations, photographs and linked material
must conform to the principles, policies and traditions of the
Boys Scouts of America, the Eagle Bay District and a unit’s
Chartering Organization. All unit web pages will be
reviewed for content and for being active on a periodic basis
and any link to it will be discontinued upon failure to meet
these expectations. Links to other sites will
also be reviewed for their promotion of Scouting and Scouting
related activities and will be added or removed based on the
periodic reviews.
Personal Information
- The full names of Adults will only be used or listed in this
site if they hold a position with a unit or the district The
full names of Youth will, at no time, be
used. The
first initial of the youth with there
lastname may
be used, along with their Troop number, for such purposes
as acknowledging new Eagle Scouts.
No phone numbers, email addresses or
personal addresses of scouts will be listed in this site; any
email requesting such information will be forwarded to that
individual for their personal attention and discretionary
response (s) or release of that information and an
acknowledgement of this email will be sent to the individual
who requested the information.
Phone numbers and email addresses may be
used for adult leaders and district staff in order to better
serve our district.
Note:
The exception will be the reproduction of any material provided
by the Scout Service Center (ie Scouting News) which is already
readily available either in print of on the Council’s website

Photographs
- Pictures of youth and/or adults may appear on site related to
District events such as Camporees, Cub Day Camp, Pinewood
Derbys or unit events of particular significance, but there
will be no names or personal information associated with these
pictures. The unit
may be identified, but the identification will be limited to
their unit number such as Troop 300 or Pack
300.
