Cub Scouts

Grades 1 - 5

Cub Scouting means "doing." Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings.

Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.

For the young Cub Scouts in Eagle Bay District, these young leaders enjoy such programs as our famous Day Camp at White Star Park, District and Pack Pinewood Derby Races, Bike Rodeos and Fishing Derbies, pack overnighters, family campouts and day trips. Programming rangers from individual Den activities and all the way up to District and Council events, activities and events for everyone in the Erie Shores Council is posted on their website. Please check our site often for updates on local Cub Scout programming in Ottawa and Sandusky County.

Law Enforcement Exploring

Co-Ed, Age 14-20

Exploring is a worksite-based program. It is part of Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years old.

Exploring purpose is to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities.

Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations initiate a specific Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.

Eagle Bay District offers two Police Explorer Posts through the Ottawa and Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department. These posts take highly trained adult advisors and work with youth to meet their demands for law enforcement career exploration tied with hands out real life experiences but in a safe, controlled environment. These opportunities exist nowhere else in Ottawa and Sandusky County, the benefits to having youth engaged in career exploring and planning now will help them in their future prospects for employment and further education and development.
